RE4L-<3 Tube Preamp Schematic

RE4L-<3 Tube Preamp Schematic

The weather is not as beautiful as it was yesterday but that's ok because the sun is within lol!

This morning i had fun making a circuit around an EF8010.
It's not a very common tube, i don't even remember why i bought it..
It took some massaging to find an equilibrium that i like, but in the end, i have to say that tube surprised me in the nicest way.
It wasn't 'love at first sight' like an EF806s or a 6sn7 can make you feel.
Their beauty is beyond us, you can do 'what you want', it will sound amazing.

I called it R34L-<3 for that reason, and as a wink to Tim Caswell' SE-1X, which is the greatest name ever for a piece of gear.

While listening to the EF8010, I had two mental images that came right away:
- paint medium
- white vinegar on epoxy

I found that it added 'reality' to something produced, it made the 'real' come thru

Then once i settled with the value of the components, i saw it as the felt and seen texture that glass has after it has been tumbling in the ocean

It's not an easy one to describe and that's what surprised me positively!
It's for sure one i'll put in a chassis, because it will make me curious about the resulting sound!
It's going to be very cool for mastering + an Apogee converter from the 90s early 2000s, they can be a great contrasted match!

As far as designing it, the last step, coming from 1.5k, once i listened to 750R on the cathode i said out loud instantly 'that's my sound'.
And same thing for G2 to Anode, i started at 15k and ended up at 470r lol!

Adding sound samples, Rew screen capture, 'build state' and the schematic!

I don't think there is an audio circuit for that tube yet on the internet ;)
